Dear All,

This weekend (23rd -25th March 2012) the Sahana Software Foundation is hosting its first Sahanathon. This is a virtual Hackathon / Code Sprint focused on building a software solution from Sahana Eden to be used by the  Sahana Software Foundation for Community Management (That's right - we'll be eating our own dog food!). Everyone is welcome to work remotely as part of the Sahana Team via our teleconference and IRC / Chat channels.

If you're interested in contributing to an open source project or seeing how technology can help coordinate a volunteer community helping in disaster management this is a great chance to get involved. If you're a student interested in participating in Google Summer of Code this is also a great chance to get to know the Sahana Software Foundation who are mentoring students for this program this year (again!).

For more details please see: http://eden.sahanafoundation.org/wiki/Event/2012/Sahanathon

Please pass the message far and wide!

Cheers

Hey - you also don't have to speak parseltongue (I mean Python) to participate in and support the Sahanathon!

One of the tasks will be to generate html pages on our WordPress site from JSON feeds generated by Eden.  This involved (gasp) embedding PHP code in a WP page/post!  So calling all Agastians and WordPress designers (I know there are several of you out there) - take a look at this page -   http://eden.sahanafoundation.org/wiki/UserGuidelinesREST#WordPressintegration
  - which shows an example of how this was done to pull hospital data out of Eden and publish it on a WordPress site.  The task here is incredibly similar.  Help me out on this task.

Also, we will need people to test the system from the front end against the requirements - it looks like this activity will be going on from about 0200 UTC on Sunday, March 25th.

Thanks and best regards,
Mark
