Hello all,

I'd like to inform you that I will no longer continue with the Sahana
Localization project. Despite all efforts I could not manage it to
integrate it into the Sahana project and make use of their
infrastructure.

Formerly I've discussed with some of you the idea to set up an
independent Humanitarian-FOSS localization project with it's own
integrated infrastructure (including VCS), and to invite multiple
HFOSS projects to participate and share their L10N resources.

The goals of this project are:
- to share L10N knowledge and resources among FOSS projects in the
humanitarian domain
- provide high-quality localization/translation of user interfaces and
documentation
- provide highly available early on-update translation/localization
- work on domain-specific terminologies, assist UI developers

I think the time has come to put this idea into practice, and I'd like
to invite all of you to join in.

(While I primarily intend to provide this service free and open
source, this doesn't exclude the option of commercial L10N services
e.g. for customisation of the respective products. I think, some of
you are happy about this option).

I think I'm ready to launch it by November. Unless Sahana decides not
to participate, I think we can seamlessly take over and continue with
this L10N project.

Kind regards,
Dominic

Dominic,

Just want to say a very brief (I'm travelling) thank you for all your
hard work on localisation! You have done a fantastic job, and I looked
forward to your continued work in this area.

As a means of kicking off your broader localisation effort, you may
want to consider contacting Ushadihi and seeing if they'd be
interesting in partnering on translations?

Thanks again for your help!

Cheers Gav
