Okay, really my last update for the night -- I just left the following comment on http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-10848

Removing special character from the password to access WHS had no effect.

Enabling the Guest account without a password WORKS! I was also able to limit guest (read-only) access on the WHS side of things to the \\server\videos folder so I'm a little more comfortable about going this route.

However, I'm not sure it's the complete answer for other setups.

I think I like the idea of a second (separate from the default Boxee SMB client) account setup via the SageTV app better. Tom?

So I think there's hope? :)
