I'm just starting out with SJQ, mostly to run comskip. I like the
flexibility it offers. One thing I would think would be handy:
allowing for each client to specify a schedule. This would allow me
to control which clients consume resources during the day (and day of
the week). This means I could allow SJQ to create a deep queue as
clients are brought down but then deplete the queue as clients become
available.

I realize that I can create a schedule in a rule set, but if I'm not
mistaken this controls when jobs are added to the queue, not when they
execute. (Let me know if I'm off-base here.)

Thoughts?

You are correct, scheduling tasks in the rule set controls when jobs
are queued, not when they are picked up by clients. You're not the
first to ask for this type of feature so now I'm more convinced to
perhaps implement it. You're best bet is to open a new issue ticket
on the project web site. This particular feature requires new syntax
added to the client config so just a warning that if you do create the
issue ticket and I do accept it then it's not likely to be implemented
until the fall. I tend not to spend as much time writing code outside
of work in the nicer weather months. With that said, this one has a
decent chance of being implemented in the fall.

I created issue 74.

Don't worry about rushing this in: it's an enhancement, not a show-
stopper. The weather here just turned nice--I'm in upstate NY, and I
think we had temperatures over 80 F (uh, that would be 26 C for the
metrically inclined) two whole days in a row after weeks of rain and
cold.

Not sure sure how far upstate you are, but I'm just on the other side
of the border in Kingston, ON. We had more rain today, but on the
whole it's summer - as crappy as it's been.

Rochester area, so not too far from you for a bird or on a boat--a
little farther for those of us who have to go by land, I guess. I
haven't been to Kingston before. What's it like? Closest I got was
passing through Watertown last weekend on a trip to the Adirondacks.

Best thing about the (rainy) summer we've had is that I haven't needed
to water the lawn or garden much. On the other hand, the mower sure
does get a workout.

(Sorry, terribly off-topic here. Bit bored tonight, exhausted from
doing yard and housework all day, wife and daughter are away, don't
feel much like watching TV. I should probably go tinker with my Sage
setup or something I guess. :-)

OK, back on topic: let me know if you want a hand coming up with the
syntax, with testing, even with development, if you'd like.
