I'd like to follow this talk tonight at 6pm on the interwebs. If it
doesn't clash with dinner plans and more people want to see it,
perhaps we could watch it on the projector?
Cheers,Martin

 Symbolic Computations and Post-Quantum Cryptography

                   ANNOUNCEMENT

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaker:   William Skeith (The City College of CUNY)
Title:     Random Self-Reducibility Properties of Learning Problems
over Burnside Groups of Exponent 3.
Time:      Thursday, Sep 29, 12:00pm (New York Time).

Abstract:

In this work we investigate the hardness of a computational problem introduced
in the recent work of Baumslag et al. In particular, we study the
$B_n-LHN$ problem,
which is a generalized version of the learning with errors (LWE)
problem, instantiated
with a particular family of non-abelian groups (free Burnside groups
of exponent 3).
In our main result, we demonstrate a random self-reducibility property
for $B_n-LHN$.
Along the way, we also prove a sequence of lemmas regarding
homomorphisms of free
Burnside groups of exponent 3 that may be of independent interest.

BRIEF WEBINAR PARTICIPANT INSTRUCTIONS

In order to participate in the meeting, you need to click the
link below 10 minutes before the talk
http://stevenslive.wimba.com/launcher.cgi?room=SCPQ
The url will take you into a login screen where you need to choose
"Participant Login". You do not need to register, simply use your
full name (e.g., Micheal_Jordan) to avoid confusion of having
people under the same name (e.g., Mike).

Seminars are broadcast via Steven's Wimba connection, where users
can interact, ask questions, and write on a whiteboard. To
participate you need a web browser, Macromedia Flash Player and Java
v.1.4 or higher. No other software required.

You might want to enter the seminar room 10 minutes earlier,
as some software installation can be required. Wimba Configuration
Wizard should take care of this automatically
