Hi Tom and Soroosh,
I implemented some code in Sage to compute the *action* of
Atkin-Lehner operators
on the real component group. It's linked to here
or just see http://nt.sagenb.org/home/pub/22/.
I didn't code computing the Hecke operators, but that would be
completely trivial to add.
I tried a few cases to see if it suggested anything, but Im too tired
to prove anything, and I don't understand Merel's argument 100% yet in
the case or prime level, which is a prerequisite.
