Hi,

I haven't given either of these talks yet, so comments welcome:

1. http://wstein.org/talks/20090622-sagedays16-thematic/
2. http://wstein.org/talks/20090623-elliptic_curves/

I'm taking a look at the elliptic curves one.

p.7: You can maps points from E to F over the number field; the
problem is that E.gens() is not implemented. It might be possible to
implement gens() for curves defined over quadratic fields which are in
fact defined over Q. Is that what you had in mind?

p.11 It's possible that speeding up the division polynomial
computation would havea good speed-up effect o nthe torsion subgroup
computation.

p.14 Weil pairings can be computed over any field (see the docstring!)
not just finite fields. (Well, best assume the characteristic does
not divide the order).

Wish I was there to help!

In the first talk, replace Singular by gp in "The Sage notbeook in
Singular mode" (page 10)

Next page "print E.mwrank()" looks rather better since the strong is
formatted normally.

There's a problem cause by the # symbols on te line E.rank? and E.rank??

Developers map -- show Europe instead? or as well.

that's all for now!

John
