Dear all;

Windows version of sage (version 4.6) does not work! I tried it with
Win7 (64bit), Win7 (32bit), and Win XP (sp3) and all failed to setup
network! Sage works within VM-Player but it cannot be used (as before)
within windows (with 192.168.xxx.xx address). SageNotebook gives an
error message: "External network not setup."

I tried to find a previous (working) version of Sage but all prev.
versions had been removed from servers :(

Does anyone familiar with such problem? I am using sage from my system
(kubuntu) but my students are all windows oriented and I am looking
for an easy solution for them. Unfortunately, due to system policies I
cannot run a local Sage server from my machine and the public ones are
generally too slow (for 3D-graphs).

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Someone at ask.sagemath.org recently asked and then answered what
looks like a similar question:

http://ask.sagemath.org/question/221/sage-server-using-vmware-bundle

Is that indeed useful, or a different issue?

No way, it did not help! Actually, the problem is the new image, I
think as when I boot it via Vbox, it cannot connect to windows :
( While I'm trying to do suggested changes on the linux image, it gets
corrupted. I will try a fresh image now.

Anyway, your help is precious, I will try a couple of things based on
that solutions.

Any more ideas?

Hi,

Maybe the following links provide you with a solution.

1. http://groups.google.com/group/sage-support/browse_thread/thread/7c30c801be94e5ae/762524a771479d54?lnk=gst&q=rolandb#762524a771479d54

If this is helpful for you, please let me know. I will email the
developers again with the suggestion to add this failure+solution to
the documentation.

Yes, actually the problem is just the configuration of VMware in /etc/
udev/rules.d/70-pers.... This was the first thing that I had tried
after the first install but nothing had changed, probably I typed
something wrong. Now, everything works w/o any problem.

Cheers,
Ugur.
