Hi, i just downloaded the Sage 5.1 version (specifically Sage Version 5.1, Release Date: 2012-07-09 as $sage -v   shows), downloading "sage-5.1-linux-ubuntu_12.04_lts-x86_64-Linux.tar.lzma"

the problem is that i'm steady getting this error (i say "steady" cuz i get the same error on my laptop too)

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sage Version 5.1, Release Date: 2012-07-09
Type "notebook()" for the browser-based notebook interface.
Type "help()" for help.

python: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found (required by /media/Disco-Local/Daniel/Science/sagemath/local/lib/libpython2.7.so.1.0)

But when i take a look at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ , there exist the libc.so.6

My OS is a Debian Testing with the Linux kernel 3.2.0-3-amd64 (wheezy)
it's worth to mention that i've used the 5.0.1 version on the last week without errors, and that's why i decided to update today. (i been using sage since the 3.7 version, even i have compiled the sage 4.2 version from source in the past)
I don't know why i'm getting this error, any suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

Any suggestions?

Which binary did you download for this? Or did you compile sage-5.0.1
from source?

Debian testing uses glibc version 2.13. The binary package built for
ubuntu appears to ask for version 2.14, which you do not have.

I suggest you build sage from source instead.

Well, i just go to http://sagemath.c3sl.ufpr.br/linux/64bit/index.html and pick the newer ubuntu version (in this case, the 12.04 LTS)
that's why a just put the name of the binary package, if you take a look my post,  there reads sage-5.1-linux-64bit-ubuntu_12.04_lts-x86_64-Linux.tar.gz

I meant: which binary did you use for sage-5.0.1 (the one which works).

Well, The binary that worked on both my netbook and desktop is the one
that has the name "sage-5.0.1-linux-64bit-ubuntu_10.04.3_lts-x86_64-Linux.tar.gz". It's all the information i have about it. i downloaded the package may be two weeks ago.

I just download it, untar at, say /home/sagemath, and then make a symbolic link
$ ln -s /home/sage /home/sagemath/sage

All i do it's run the program by call
$ sage

and when i run the program with "-v" argument

$ sage -v

It said that was 5.0.1, but i don't remember the release date. That was the last working version on my Debian, as i told, i downloaded the package two weeks ago at most.
That's all the information i have, i still don't have installed that 5.0.1 binary, but i have it on my desktop, i could untar it and gather the information that you ask me.

Thanks for your help!
