I have a local installation of Sage, running on a Windows 10 machine, which I have used for more than 3 years, without any problem. This was
initially set-up using Oracle Virtual Box, where I never had to provide a log-in password (I never set-up one).
Yesterday morning, Wed June 13, 2018, I suddenly could not get-in any more, i.e., I was stuck with the "sagevm login" prompt. If you have any
suggestion (e.g., is there a default password, username combination I could try?). Is there any fallback on how to rescue my data, suppose I
have to reinstall Sage and point to the current sage folders (if this is possible)? Or, is all data also encrypted?
I have never used my machine as a shared resource and have always been able to start-up Sage without any credentials/login screen.
Any help appreciated. Version numbers of Sage/VM below.
Oracle VirtualBox Manager, 5.2.12 r122591 (Qt5.6.2); Sage6.4.1.
I found some log info, which may give some clues as to what
happened between Tue 12th evening and Wed 13th morning (when the
log-in problem occurred). A snippet of the logs is below,
including time stamp these were created, with entire logs
attached.
I hope this helps troubleshooting. Rene
