Built from scratch on two Mac OS X systems: 10.6.8 (Dual 6-core Xeons) and 10.8.3 (Quad-core Core i7).

On 10.8, the first build blew up while (probably) building GCC-74.7.3.p0. I blew away the whole directory, unpacked Sage again, and reran the build, which completed successfully. The 10.6 build completed w/o problems.

On each system, all tests ('ptestlong') passed!

That a known issue? First I've heard of it.

There seems to be no problem on 10.6.8.

I will poke at it a bit more, as time presents.

Thanks!

That a known issue?  First I've heard of it.

It was a joke, since you made a (I think) typo in your version number for gcc.

Yes it was. A good joke. I'm sorry I missed it. I'm pretty sure I would have enjoyed it. I think I'll go back to bed now.

Built from scratch w/o problems on Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS x86 with FSF GCC
4.7.2 (modulo R requiring '-fno-ipa-cp-clone' with '-O3', as usual), and
all tests (ptestlong) passed.

On a MacBook Pro under Mac OS X 10.7.5, ran 'make' then 'make testlong':

  All tests passed!

However, quitting sage-5.10.beta4 leaves a Python process running.

Is it "sage-cleaner"? That *should* quit automatically after a little while (a minute or two, at the most, I think).

Doesn't seem anybody attempted to yet; see

Open a ticket for it, and advertise it on the sage-devel mailing list.

And put the relevant ones into the ticket's description.

Thank you, it might indeed be sage-cleaner.

With Sage 5.9 it seems to quit immediately,
is there a reason why it's different?

The build is from within a gentoo-prefix on debian. beta3 built just fine with the same build scenario.

This happens if you have set SAGE_SPKG_INSTALL_DOCS=yes; the HTML doc is
now in src/doc/html/ rather than src/doc/build/html/ (as it used to be
in the previous cvxopt-1.1.5.p0), so that's indeed a regression
(unrelated to gentoo-prefix).
