Since http://trac.sagemath.org/13318 is apparently never going to get fixed I changed the VM to run the Sage server and web browser under the same user. Then at least the browser inside the VM can log in automatically:

Was there a pull request for fixing this that was rejected? I don't
think the idea of that ticket was slated as "never fix". Development is
moving slowly these days, though.
