Why there is no a live CD/DVD version since 5.1?

Thanks.

Looks like there were updated ones:

http://boxen.math.washington.edu/home/emil/sagelive/sagelive-511-53.iso

(I don't use them myself, so I can't tell whether or how they work...)

FWIW, the official download link is:

http://sagemath.org/download-livecd.html

(It seems one doesn't see the version until a mirror is selected; the
Live CD images are contributed by Emil Widmann, i.e., their preparation
is at least currently not part of the "official" release process, so
they're not necessarily in sync with the current [stable] source and
binary distributions.)

It should be official and updated for various reasons, the main schools and colleges. No need to let a dedicated machine or install VMs that are slow in underserved communities. The CD version runs much faster.

Thanks.

Well, we could certainly update the *Sage part* of the CD image on a
regular basis [more or less automated], but I guess maintaining the
"rest" is quite a lot of work, and I don't know whether Emil has the
time, or others could help him...

Volunteering to test new beta releases? ;-)

I think the "Sage Part" will be enough. The OS isnt used in labs of science but the Math only. I know it is a huge work to keep up to date the Linux.

As a teacher of Math I allow the student to use only the Sage. If someone try to go to the linux shell it goes outside of my class.

And yes , I can be a beta tester.

I did try it recently and the 5.3 one worked fine, very nicely in fact.
