The same three build errors are still present in 4.7.2.alpha3-
prerelease3:
R/readline, Singular/-ldl, and Symmetrica/-lm.

That's on Ubuntu 11.10, gcc-4.6.1, amd64. The singular/symmetrica
problems are well known in the sage groups, as are their fixes, and
many of us have already prepared fixes for singular/symmetrica ---
they
are really simple, one line changes --- but they don't seem to
propagate into the official (pre)releases.

The R/readline problem shows up intermittently on these groups going
back a year or so, but I'm not sure that a permanent fix is known.
The temporary fix is to 'rm $(SAGE_HOME)/spkg/standard/
readline-6.1.spkg'
and 'rm $(SAGE_HOME)/local/lib/libreadline*' and restart 'make', using
the native system readline-dev libraries.

I applied all three fixes and prerelease3 builds and runs ptestlong
just fine.
However, Ubuntu 11.10 is going official release in a few weeks, and
singular/symmetrica are guaranteed to fail as they are now because the
gcc-4.6.x is enforcing new rules for linker library placements.

That's why the corresponding tickets (at least for Singular and
Symmetrica) are blockers for the final (Sage 4.7.2).

There'll be a further alpha (alpha4) and we'll hopefully release Sage
4.7.2 before Oneiric Ocelot is out.

For Singular, the people at SD34 working on it:

... and /that's/ why I didn't make a new Singular spkg adding `-ldl` to
`LDFLAGS` on Linux or applying the upstream fix from the svn. ;-)

For Symmetrica, the spkg on the ticket "works", but still needs other
work. (pinging vbraun...)
