You're receiving this email since you're signed up for the AMS short
course "Computing with Elliptic Curves using Sage" in Boston Jan 2,3
2012. The website for the course is here:
http://wiki.sagemath.org/jmm12
There are a couple of suggested pre-course readings at the website,
which will help you get familiar with Python and Sage. Also, rough
versions of notes/worksheets for the course will appear there soon.
If you are one of the 20 people who haven't already done so, I
recommend you join this mailing list:
https://groups.google.com/group/sage-jmm2012, since I will send all
future emails about the course to that list (you can always check the
list via the above URL). Let me know if you want me to send you an
invitation (e.g., if you want to join and do not have a gmail
account).
If you have any questions you can also respond directly to this email
and ask me. In fact, a flurry of questions would be useful, since
then I can craft an email that answers them, since I'm not sure what
people are wondering about the most.
Best regards,
-- William
Here's a quick question. Is there a particular version of sage that
we should be using for the course (e.g. on our laptops)? I'm currently
running sage v4.7.1 (using python v2.7.2).

That should be fine. Looking at the content we'll be using, any
recent version should be fine.
