Hello Mentors,
My name is Gaurav Suryawanshi. I'm a fourth year Integrated Masters' student from the department of Mathematics at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur pursing Mathematics and Computational Sciences. I've been studying mathematics since past 4 years, My major expertise lie in abstract algebra and abstract spaces. I've also worked on python a lot since past 2-3 years mainly working on tensorflow models for Reinforcement Learning. I've used sagemath before but only limited to numerical computation.

I've already read main page and made myself familiar with Sage, trac, and working towards it's source code. I read the projects mentioned here and found representation theory to the a great project, but was wondering about whether we can contribute on something we like. I actually wish to add new functionalities related to functional analysis such as Inner Products, norm of a functional(or rather norm in general) , bounded linear operators or equations such Integral Equations in the sage math environment, I feel it would be a great addition to the existing software and would also help understanding Mathematics in a deeper sense. However, if that's not possible, if you have suggestions about related projects which seems well-suited for me it would be great.

Thanking you,
Gaurav.
Stay safe from corona!

Dear Gaurav,
You are free to propose your own project as part of your GSoC application. However, when you make your proposal, be sure to include references for the functionality you want to implement and/or provide an idea for how to do these computations.

Best,
Travis

Hi Travis,
Greetings! I've added an abstract inner product module inside the algebra module(which could be changed later) on ticket number #29437. Kindly review it and please let me know about your thoughts. I plan to add functionalities such as Gram Schmidt Orthonormalization, Bounded linear operator and other spaces(not just vector space) in input. I wish to further go deeper into orthonormal sets and then representation of functional on Hilbert spaces as a representation in Hilbert Space. I'm forming a proposal related to it and let you know soon.

Please Let me know your thoughts, whether is it a good idea to work on and possible modifications if possible?

Thanking you,
Gaurav
