Hello Sage organizers,

My name is Alex, and I'm a student interested in participating in GSoC 2026. I have a project idea that doesn't fall into any of the proposed projects (this idea is connected to math research I carried out using Sage. I am interested in incorporating my work into the Sage codebase).

On the other hand, I am working on PR #41835 to streamline README instructions on sage.

I know that Sage requires some kind of a PR from participants to demonstrate understanding of the development process. Does the PR I'm working on satisfy this requirement, or should I open an issue and/or PR related to the project I am proposing?

Thank you for your time!

Best regards,
Alex

Dear Alex,
The main idea is that you are familiar with our workflow by doing the PR. So depending on what your project is, it might be good to do another PR (such as one that modifies the source code and/or adds another file).

Also, just for the record but you are likely aware, we warmly welcome proposals that are not listed on the ideas page and considering it equally.

Best,
Travis
