Hello everyone,

I'm a student from India and I recently finished Class 12 about to join university. I've always been interested in programming and technology, and lately I've started exploring the world of Open Source.

To be honest, I'm a complete beginner when it comes to Open Source contributions. There are so many things to learn, and at times it feels a bit overwhelming. That's why I joined this community—to learn from people who have more experience and to understand how everything works.

I may ask a lot of beginner questions, so I hope you'll bear with me. Any guidance, tips, learning resources, or advice would mean a lot to me. My goal is to keep learning, improve my skills, and eventually make meaningful contributions to projects, maybe even participate in GSoC in the future.

Thank you for welcoming newcomers like me. I'm excited to learn and be a part of this community!

Best regards,
Anindya/Rick

Ignore the haters.  Figure out what you like to do and go do it.  If that includes doing SW and working on open-source projects go for it.

If you want to work on open source projects and exploring, don't limit yourself to sage.  I suggest looking on github or gitlab for projects that you have an interest in.    Learn how to build and use it.  Look at the bug tracker or feature tracker.  Find simple bugs/features that you could do.  Contribute fixes.  You'll start small, but you'll get better.  It takes time.  Contributing to large projects with lots of developers will be hard.  Find smaller projects that are easier to understand.

The important part is finding projects that interest you.
