Dear Prof. Rubey,
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing to express my interest in applying for the GSoC project “Interface FriCAS guessing routines with the lazy power series ring.” I have gone through the project description and find it closely aligned with my interests in symbolic computation and combinatorics.
I am currently a second-year Computer Science and Engineering student based in Bangalore. As part of my coursework and personal learning, I have been working with Python and studying discrete mathematics, which has strengthened my interest in mathematical computing and algorithmic thinking.
I have set up SageMath on my system and am actively exploring its symbolic capabilities. In parallel, I am also working with FriCAS and experimenting with routines such as guessPRec.
As an initial step, I have been developing a small prototype to convert FriCAS outputs (recurrence relations along with initial conditions) into SageMath symbolic expressions. This has helped me understand the challenges involved in parsing and representing such mathematical structures, and I am continuing to improve this approach.
I am currently preparing my proposal and would be grateful for any guidance or suggestions you may have regarding the project scope or expectations.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your feedback.
Best regards,
Mukesh Kumar Poddar
