Hello everyone,

My name is Sai Vivek, and I’m currently a second-year Undergraduate in Computer Science at IIT Bombay.

I was going through the organization’s past GSoC projects and came across a project from last year titled Paths and cycles enumeration methods in graphs, which I found particularly interesting. As part of one of my coursework projects, I’ve worked on a smaller-scale implementation related to this area, which motivated me to explore it further in a real open-source setting.

I have taken coursework that includes graph theory and algorithms, as well as systems-oriented courses using C++ and Python, and I have a strong interest in applying these foundations while contributing to SageMath.

I noticed that this project (or a similar one) doesn’t appear in the current ideas list yet, so I wanted to ask whether there are plans to offer related project areas this year, or if there are recommended components/modules where new contributors could start contributing early.

I’m keen to begin contributing to the project and would really appreciate any guidance on where my efforts would be most useful at this stage.

Thank you for your time and for maintaining such a great project.

Best regards,
Sai Vivek

Dear Sai,
Thank you for your interest in SageMath and GSoC 2026. Please note that we have not been accepted as a mentor org for GSoC 2026 currently, and so I can only give limited information regarding participation in GSoC 2026 at present.

That said, we wholly welcome any contributions that you would like to make at any time. You can take a look at our issues tracker on our github page, which can filter by specific topics via the tags. You can also find information on how to best contribute to SageMath by reading our developer's guide: https://doc.sagemath.org/html/en/developer/.

Best,
Travis
