Inquiry About SageMath’s Participation in GSoC 2026

Hello Sage Team,

I’m a student interested in contributing to SageMath and was exploring your previous GSoC projects. I wanted to ask if SageMath is planning to participate in Google Summer of Code 2026.

In the meantime, I’d like to start contributing and getting familiar with the project’s codebase and community. Could you please guide me on the best way to begin (for example, recommended repositories, starter issues, or communication channel)?

Dear Tanisha,

   We will likely submit an application to be a mentor organization for 2026, but a final decision will not be made until the application. Furthermore, Google needs to select us as a mentor organization, which is not in our control.
