Hi,

I'm Danielle Lam a student at Harvey Mudd College interested in applying for the 'Implement generalizations of matroids' project for GSoC 2026.

I noticed the mentor is listed as TBD. Is there someone assigned to this project I could get in touch with?

A bit about me: I have a strong linear algebra and muti-calculus background. I'm comfortable with Python and excited about the mathematical side of this project, particularly the connections between matroid theory and greedy algorithms.

Best regards,
Danielle Lam

Hi Danielle,
We don't currently have a specific mentor in mind for a project based on that idea. General questions can be posted here, and if you want specific feedback on a prepared proposal draft, you can contact me.

Best,
Travis

Thanks Travis! Would this project still be considered for GSoC 2026 without a dedicated mentor, or would you recommend I look at one of the other listed projects instead?

Dear Danielle,
All project ideas mentioned on the ideas page are just that: ideas. You are free to propose any project you want, including ones not based on the listed ideas, and we will review it equally.

Best,
Travis
