Hello!!!!

I am Nitin and I would like to contribute to Sage projects for GSoC 2020 and beyond. I have a small query. In Sage's developer's guide its mentioned that we can alternatively fork and create a pull request at github which will automatically fetch our code and open a ticket on the trac server. But the info on github page suggests otherwise. Is it fine to just make pull requests on Github? Please guide me on this.

Regards,
Nitin K

Hello Nitin,

the Guide seems to be out of date here. In fact this only works for GitLab. Merge Requests against https://gitlab.com/sagemath/sage/ are turned into Trac Tickets automatically.

Why not make a first contribution on GitLab and update our Developer Guide? The relevant files should be here: https://gitlab.com/sagemath/sage/tree/develop/src/doc/en/developer

I have updated the info about making pull/merge requests in the developer's guide. The trac ticket for the same : https://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/28926

Kindly review the ticket and please merge it if possible.

Warmest Regards,
Nitin K
