Dear SageMath Team,

My name is Timothy P. Ninan, and I am a student interested in contributing to the SageMath project.

As a math student looking to develop/learn other languages other than Matlab, I recognize SageMath as an alternative platform and would be thrilled to contribute to its growth.

I am writing because I am enthusiastic about learning the codebase and contributing, but I am entirely new to the process. I am looking for guidance on how to begin—specifically, on tasks or issues that are suitable for a first-time contributor. I am highly motivated and keen to be taught the workflow and best practices.

Could you please point me toward the best place to start?
