Hello,

I cannot unpack the Mac OSX 10.4 intel package. Has anyone encountered
this problem as well?

Thanks,

stef

there are two know issues on OSX:

a) you need to use the command line tar utility. Many GUI utilities on
OSX have bugs that prevent the unpacking of the archive.
b) There is a lib->LIB symlink issue that will be fixed in the next,
i.e. 2.9.2 release out this Thursday.

What exactly is the error message you are getting?

Thanks for the quick answer.

The problem occurs with the commandline tool as well. The errormessage
I get is:

sage-2.9.1-osx10.4-intel-i386-Darwin/spkg/install
tar: Fehler beim Beenden, verursacht durch vorhergehende Fehler.

Please check that md5sum and size matches:

-rw-r--r-- 1 1000 1000 273196201 Dec 25 18:29 sage-2.9.1-osx10.4-intel-
i386-Darwin.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 1000 1000 243861312 Dec 25 01:38 sage-2.9.1-osx10.5-
intel.tar.gz
[root@apcocoa intel]# md5sum sage-2.9.1-osx10.*
e05f0b1d986101b992126dc47ff7a527 sage-2.9.1-osx10.4-intel-i386-
Darwin.tar.gz

If size and md5sum fits you should post a little more of the log. It
just tells us that it failed, not why.

I also assume you have enough free space and so on, but it can't hurt
to check.

Ok, I did build a 2.9.1.1 on 10.5 which is at

http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/mabshoff/sage-OSX-10.5-Intel-i386-Darwin.tar.gz

It is about 250 MB, so if you run 10.5 you could test that. If you run
10.4 it probably won't work, but since the standard 10.5 untars just
fine on the 10.5 box I use.

2.9.2 on OSX will most likely be distributed via DMG, so the issue
should be gone. The code is currenlty written, so unless something
last minute pops up it will get merged.

Cheers,

Michael
