Java, PHP and Python have all plunged in popularity. But Python is the
only one to have significantly dropped in the rankings over the last
year (it put on a dying gasp, err, I mean sudden recovery spurt, in
the first few months of this year).
Javascript is on the up-and-up. One can only marvel at this. In a
recent poll it was by far the most hated language. Unfortunately,
people have discovered it is actually useful.
One has no explanation for the resurgence in popularity of Visual
Basic and Logo. One surmises education is an important factor here.
Not the kind that leads to people making better informed decisions.
Note C# and Ada have increased in popularity, but dropped in rankings
due to other languages increasing more.
Go and Dart are in the top 100, along with such dynamic movers as
Oberon, ABC, Algol and PL/I.
Alas, Julia has not cracked the top 100 yet.
