Dear Sage community,
We are writing to officially announce the 2026 election process for the
Sage Code of Conduct Committee (CoCC).
The election committee for this cycle consists of:
* Nils Bruin
* Jean-Philippe Labbé
* John Palmieri
* Viviane Pons
As discussed previously, the election process will proceed as follows.
## Committee structure
The CoCC consists of six members serving two-year terms. In the future,
we hope to move toward staggered terms, with elections held annually for
roughly half of the committee in order to ensure continuity. For this
election, two committee members have agreed to start the staggering
(David Roe and Julian Rüth).
## Nominations and confidential objections (May 20 -- June 15)
Any member of sage-devel may nominate any other member of sage-devel,
including themselves.
In addition, any member of sage-devel may confidentially inform the
election committee that they believe a particular nominee should not
serve on the CoCC. Such confidential objections should be sent privately
by email to one of the election committee members.
To submit either a nomination or a confidential objection, please
contact any member of the election committee directly using their
personal email address.
At the end of the nomination period, the election committee will contact
nominees and inform them of the number of confidential objections
received, if any. The identities of those submitting objections will
remain confidential.
Nominees may then decide whether they wish to stand for election.
## Publication of the candidate list (June 22)
The final list of candidates will be published on June 22, together
with the number of confidential objections received by each candidate,
if any.
## Voting period (June 22 -- June 30)
Voting will be conducted by email. Members of sage-devel may send their
ballot to any member of the election committee, who will coordinate the
collection and tabulation of votes.
As specified in `CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md`, voting is conducted using the
method of equal shares.
If necessary, ties affecting the outcome of the election will be
resolved by the election committee using a transparent and publicly
documented tie-breaking procedure.
## Election results (July 1)
The election results will be announced on July 1, 2026.
Questions or comments regarding the election process are welcome on
sage-devel or sage-government.
Best regards,
The 2026 Sage CoCC Election Committee
