  /home/ricardo/sage/sage/logs/pkgs/gfortran-14.2.0.log

and

  /home/ricardo/sage/sage/config.log

Describe your computer, operating system, etc.

If you want to try to fix the problem yourself, *don't* just cd to

/home/ricardo/sage/sage/local/var/tmp/sage/build/gfortran-14.2.0 and type 'make' or whatever is appropriate.

Instead, the following commands setup all environment variables

correctly and load a subshell for you to debug the error:

  (cd '/home/ricardo/sage/sage/local/var/tmp/sage/build/gfortran-14.2.0' && '/home/ricardo/sage/sage/sage' --buildsh)

When you are done debugging, you can type "exit" to leave the subshell.

Hello,

I don't know the exact setting used by SAGE for compiling the gcc compiler suite but usually flex (and even bison) is necessary. Maybe you could try to install it even it's just a warning here.

To speak frankly, why gfortran has to be built? Why not installing your distribution packages of gcc, g++ and gfortran?

I have been arguing for years that gcc/gfortran package got to be removed, as it's everyone's waste of time, apart for about 1 user.
