tab completion in emacs

since today, tab completion in emacs (using sage-shell-mode), omits the first character.  This happened before, a few years ago.

Anyone remembers the cause?

Additionally, I get strange error messages:

Hi Martin.

I remember the two of us looking into that at some point. Unfortunately, I cannot find any documentation on this one. I vaguely remember that we ended up changing the ipython version but I am not sure if that actually fixed it. If you're on a conda based setup now, it's easy to go through various ipython versions to see if that helps. Feel free to message me on Zulip if you want some guidance on how to do that :)

Unfortunately, no conda here.

I tried downgrading to 10.9.beta4, no change (also with the bad error messages)

This is *really* bad for me right now. :-(((
