Dear all,

As part of a personal experimentation, I made a PR for SageMath where
Claude (the AI by Anthropic) was intensively used. See
https://github.com/sagemath/sage/pull/42344. I was positively
impressed by the efficiency gain.

I think it would be good to set up a policy for AI generated code in
SageMath... Should we even allow it as it is sloppy with respect to
open source?

Best,
Vincent

Those are both good points.  For reference, the downstream (in a loose sense) project PreTeXt has some developers using Claude in various ways, and documenting this on PRs.  Are there other Python ecosystem typical policies/habits around this?

I think there is less of a problem with producing pull requests, but rather with reviewing them - no matter whether generated by a human or a large language model.
