On a Gentoo machine I got the toolchain broken in an interesting way:
I get errors such as

ImportError: local/lib/python3.7/site-packages/sage/ext/interpreters/wrapper_py.cpython-37m-x86_64-linux-gnu.so:
failed to map segment from shared object

on many, if not all, Cython modules, even though the build completes
and Sage starts (but about 10% or 20% of the tests fail)

Any idea what's going on?

Dima

It is a very interesting memory management problem.
Wish I could find the bottom of it.

Thanks! I've posted a bit more info on the tracker there. It's
comforting that it's not
a quirk on my machine only :-)
