I've got some small questions:
- Should foreign nationals of nations participating in the visa waivers
program of the US go for a Visa Waivers Business or Tourist? Some US
conferences/workshops advised to get a VW Business classification since it
was required for reimbursement.
- What is the recommended way of getting from the airport to the
accommodation?
- Shall we just drop by the Collegiana Inn and check-in? Are the rooms booked
under Williams name?
Cheers,
Martin
PS: I touch down in Seattle 8:55 pm 6/11/08 just in case somebody else will
arrive at the same time.

I'll check with the secretary here.

I'll let a student who lives in Seattle answer this.

Collegiana Inn -- despite the name -- is now an apartment complex not a hotel,
so there isn't really a notion of check in, at least not after 6pm.
I will obtain keys for all the rooms, and figure out how to
distribute them -- I don't know yet. Ideas?
My cell phone number is 206-419-0925, by the way.

I like to use public transportation in strange lands, so I'd take a bus. The 194 goes from the airport to downtown, then the 71, 72, or 73 will take you from downtown to the U District. You'll want to get off the 7(1|2|3) at 45th.
For the less adventurous, I hear that airport shuttles are cheaper than taxis. Also, I've never seen a taxicab in Seattle that could be described as "in a hurry", or "slightly faster than my grandmother".
More details on this point:
there are 2 bus lines from the airport to downtown 174 and 194. Resist
to the temptation to get in the 174 if it comes earlier, since it takes
more than 1h to get downtown, whereas 194 uses the highway.
Fares:
* bus : $1.5 (about 1h to campus)
* taxis : around $40 + tip (about 20mins to campus)
* shuttle : around $35 (maybe less if you register online before arriving)
Therefore I do not recommend the shuttle, since they may ask you to wait
quite a while before the shuttle is full, and it is not that much
cheaper than a taxi.

Ah, I remember now. But according to
http://transit.metrokc.gov/tops/bus/schedules/s194_0_.html
the buses don't run very late.

Martin
Any ideas come along?
If not:
I suppose that it would be easier for the first person to arrive to do
the actual distribution (and post a cell number for that purpose). I'm
fine with not strolling too far off and distributing the keys after I
arrive, but Martin Albrecht seem to arrive before I do.
I'm landing at 2:10 pm the 12th, so I suppose I'll want to "check in"
sometimes between 4 and 7 pm.
That doesn't address getting the keys to that first someone of course.

I'll call around after I landed for someone with the keys. AFAIK Michael
Abshoff is already staying there, so a set of keys must be somewhere in the U
district. I can't post my mobile number here since (1) I'm not sure my mobile
will work on the other side of the big pond and (2) it would cost you an
international call to call it.
Cheers,
Martin

I'll be arriving on the 12th. My flight is supposed to land at 9:14
p.m., so I suppose that means I should be arriving around 10:30(?) p.m.
Would it help to add arrival times to the wiki?
Yes, please do. I think Michael will be waiting at the door
for people and/or has posted his phone number at the top.
He will have lots of keys to rooms.
William
I'm landing at 2 pm so I'll need to keep this in mind, but if you plan on
heading back afterwards I'll just wait for you, I don't think it will be
that long (I'll take the bus).
Dag Sverre
I'll arrive TODAY (the joy of direct flights) 9pm + immigration + getting to
the Inn.
Cheers,
Martin
Hi everyone,
I'm scheduled to arrive at Sea-Tac TODAY (meaning 2008-06-12) at
6:37pm. See you guys later!
Cheers,
Ralf
