(The other steps I tentatively got are blogs of real aid workers that
are in the field right now; list of 100 ways to be a global citizen;
online modules on a dozen subjects; case studies and group action
plans; links to local NGOs or policy makers that are doing
international work; and travel internationally. There will probably be
some other little things I'll eventually think of to add but that is
where I am at now. If you something comes to your mind let me know.)
So here are a few examples of how videos can possibly be used to be
the "next step" for us... what do you think?
Alex
a) Bridges to Understanding
An non-profit based out of Seattle that gives cameras to kids in
developing countries so that they can tell the story of their lives.
It is really well done and this charity teaches these kids how to use
the cameras and also how to photoshop, editing, etc. The founder calls
it "digital storytelling" and I really think it could make a profound
impact because it allows you to view the world through another
perspective.
We might also do something in the future that involves this and SAGA's
international travels. We were talking about "culture exchange" and
Canada World Youth on monday but something like this could work as
well at being a "next step".
The founder giving a pretty inspirational talk:

b) Video Volunteers
An award-winning non-profit that is based out of India that uses
videos and mass screenings to promote social change. (ex bringing
attention to human rights abuses, high-lighting child marriage
practices, or even just giving women a voice by putting the camera in
their hands).

c) Deep Griha
And videos I found of Deep Griha, the charity that we are supporting
in Pune, India. Our money isn't specifically going to the exact things
that they talk about in the video because the organization runs many
different programs; but rather we are supporting their new DISHA
program that deals with AIDS.

hey guys,
I got a handful of positive responses for this videos idea, so I added
another link to the main SAGA website that has a bunch of videos that
I frequently visit. This one by the UN Refugee Agency and although it
is not everything that I want this new thought tangent to become -- it
will be a good start for possibly a whole new aspect of SAGA's future.
