thanks,
Alex
Engineers Without Borders has organized a Massive Outreach Event (MOE)
scheduled to take place on March 1st 2007. We plan to distribute 4000
newspapers dated 2025 which celebrate 'The End of Extreme Poverty'.
The paper will outline how extreme poverty has been eliminated over
the 'past' 18 years, and emphasize the leading role played by Canada.
We are hoping to raise awareness surrounding actions citizens can
engage in that promote the reduction of poverty worldwide.
Distribution will occur in all major cities and we hope to reach
hundred of thousands of Canadians. In Edmonton we will be distributing
papers in each of the LRT stations and major ETS bus terminals, in
Southgate Mall, and on the University campus. We are recruiting
volunteers from far and wide to help with distribution of the papers
in order to make this event feasible . A schedule is attached, I ask
you to please fill in your name beside a time slot and location where
you are available to aid in handing papers out to the public. I also
ask that you include your phone number when you return the updated
schedule to me. We at Engineers Without Borders are extremely excited
for this event, and hope that you share our energy. We would ask that
you circulate this schedule to any parties whom may share our interest
in eliminating global poverty. Honest thanks from EWB!
The schedule so far is attached and some notes:
(a) all volunteers will be invited to a training session which will be
either the 24, 25 or 26th (undecided) here we will feed you guys
pizza!
(b) When you fill your name into a slot on the schedule please also
include your phone number and email (maybe not on the schedule, but in
the email you send). This is critical!
(c) I need a team of 10 to take care of the heavy organizational stuff
(distributing the papers in the morning etc.) PLEASE tell me if you
are willing to do this, it will require that you attend a logistics
meeting on the 28th (im am going to tentatively say in Colt Design Lab
at 5:00pm which is in ETLC, but EWB exec needs to give me the go ahead
to invite you guys there!)
(d) Please circulate this schedule like crazy! Give it to friends,
group mailing lists, anyone you've ever met!
(e) please, if you can, sign up for more than one position, and say
which is preferred, less preferred etc. I anticipate some overlap.
Please sign as many slots as you can conceive of being able to cover!
(f) we will have 4000 papers to distribute, they will be in edmonton
in the next few day
(g) an online copy should be available by tomorrow
Thanks you SOO much guys!!!
Chris
