With a heavy heart I wish to inform you of SAGA's imminent death. I
can't take it anymore. Too many faces, too many stories, too many
victims. I cared too much and now I am free-falling. The memories have
scarred my unconsciousness and the pain doesn't go away. Even with
alcohol and drugs it is still there. I just want to be numbed by the
numbers.

Sorry for giving you hope, there was a time when I did believe...

Hi Alex,

I just joined this mailing list a couple of weeks ago... and I must say that I am really surprised that SAGA is ending. Despite being such a young group, you are very well known on campus and have raised a significant amount of money for an excellent cause in a very short time period.

I realize that the world's problems are overwhelming. They seem impossible to fix alone. But, you have to realize that you aren't alone. There are hundreds of organizations dedicated to improving deplorable conditions worldwide. And I believe, that even if you can personally help just one person overcome their own difficulties, then you have done something worthwhile.

As confucious once said: Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising each time we fall. I see great potential in SAGA and am disheartened that it is ending in its infancy. I know many people who have started their own non-profit organizations and have been EXTRAORDINARILY successfull at changing the world (and yes, they too had the very apprehensions you currently have).

Would you ever reconsider your decision?

We need a SAGA wide meeting.
If you look around campus you can see dozens of SAGA shirts on any
given day, we've got a chapter in another university, all over North
America people are contributing to our cause. Hundreds of people are
involved in our cause.

I understand that you have taken all responsibility Alex, but if you
need time to go and figure out your life, then by all means! We all
want what is best for you! However, I don't feel that the premature
death of SAGA is the answer, if you need to leave, then let others
continue the club, and there will always be a spot here for you.

There should have been a discussion about this. We are a team. I can't
comprehend what you must be going through but there are other options,
other ways out. This is not the answer.

What are you talking about alex??! PLEASE don't give up on saga! If
you feel overwhelmed, you can delegate, or let the club carry on, but
please don't give up on it! Your initiative and vision is such an
inspiration to so many people, and they want to help you carry it on.

hey everyone, i really appreciate the support. it feels really good to
know that there are still people who care about saga.

saga is NOT going to end. i think several people are going to make
sure of it. i'm sorry, that is a really bold statement.. and it might
not be my place to say so, but i'm saying it anyways. saga is a part
of me too now and i'm not going to let it "die".

we need to have a discussion.
unfortunately, i can't say i have a simple answer to saga's internal
problems. therefore, i need your help.

to alex, i've said this in the core discussion and i'm saying it
again, and i'm sure i'm not alone in it either.. but you are an
inspiration and i still believe you will get over this bump and send
saga to fullfill it's true potential.

i feel slightly bad for putting this out into an open discussion but i
think at this time.. we need to hear voices.

To Alex,
I am currently a grade 10 student at Austin O' Brien high school,
and I would like you to be aware of the impact that you have had on
me.
My friends and I have been following your website for the past year
and a half,
since an article appeared in ed (from the edmonton journal)
How I see it:
You have given a voice to the mute, and leant an ear to the deaf.
After learning of saga, my 10 year old sister and her friends have all
become aspiring activists. Not only have you planted a seed of hope in
our adolescent population, but you have created an army of youth who
are willing to fight for your dream. Because it is also a dream that
you have awakened, and instilled in each of us.
