Thanks for this as it gives a very useful perspective on a very old issue.

Dear Rasigan
I started reading with great interest and then gave up waiting to see which country is in favour of the continued embargo.  As far as I could go this - over the 90% of countries have voted against sanctions.  So now we now what the "international community" says about the resolution.  Next we heard anyone from the US speaks on behalf of the international community we must simply note that they speak for themselves and perhaps a couple of others (the international minority), except that if the people in the US were asked for their opinion then it might be a different story..  The figure below (is it 1.1 trillion?) is extracted from the document.  Says a lot about the financial costs.

Thanks for sharing such a excellent resource.  It also gives a good overview of the different countries positions.  The best one off course has to be the one from the Cubans themselves.

Regards
Gino

"The economic damage to the Cuban people as a result of the United States

economic, commercial and financial embargo as at April 2013, taking into account

the depreciation of the dollar against the price of gold on the international market,

amounted to $1,157,327,000,000."

Dear Rasigan

Thank you for this -- it is both encouraging and saddening. Why does it just go on?
188 against 2, with continued embargo, simply illustrates the broken system/model that the UN is (with the 5 countries with their veto rights)

The good that has come out of all of this is that Cuba has demonstrated to us all how to life in post oil

Warmest
Irma
