Starting simple I'm hoping to get
http://remotestorage.io web apps working with SAFE Launcher.
This would be fantastic, because it means any remoteStorage web app would instantly work on SAFE Network.
That's a totally secure, anonymous and effectively free personal cloud across all your devices - right in the web browser.
SAFEnetwork + remoteStorage.js is doubly attractive because:
- remoteStorage.js is already simple to build on, but made even simpler by SAFE Launcher handling all the user credentials/authorisation
- remoteStorage.js supports offlineFirst so web apps still work when there's no network connection, and automatically sync once connected
There aren't many remoteStorage web apps yet, but the remoteStorage API is simple and would draw together people from the unhosted community to MaidSafe/SAFEnetwork, and be an attractive option for any SAFE Network devs capable of JavaScript development to build their own web apps and get multip exposure - through the SAFEnetwork and unhosted / remoteStorage / offlineFirst / noBackend communities.
I'm about to resume peeking into the remoteStorage.js code (see this
remoteStorage forum post for where I am right now) but feel free to jump in and help. My JavaScript is terrible, so anyone who can review what I'm doing or who wants to tear the keyboard away from me and make sure its done right is welcome to join me ;-)
SAFEpress is not dead yet. Remember the tortoise and the hare :-)
