Hi-Welcome! A few quick answers for you which others are free to add to..A full battery charge lasts about a week of normal daytime usage, give or take. If you drive with it all day long and can plug it in over night every other day or something you won’t have a problem. It’s USB charged, so as long as you have the right cable for it you can plug it into a standard phone charger USB thing in the car.
Data isn’t an issue at all - A full day of bad data is a few hundred k, the SD cards that ship with the nanos are 4GB or 8GB (depending on what is cheap that week) and it would take you months of daily use to fill it.
As for the case, a black one will work as well as the clear one, though it’s worth noting that there’s nothing illegal or wrong about measuring in anyway and the very few instances were anyone has had an issue have happened because they were trying to hide what they were doing and ended up looking suspicious. It’s clear to remove the concern and keep things out in the open, and while anything may bring questions, a black box will be infinitely more suspicious looking and draw much more attention.Hope that helps!-s

Seen these devices a while ago now, always intrigued me, but thinking more seriously more about pulling the trigger on one and building itI have a road trip in about 5 weeks time, going to roughly follow the Northcoast 500 in Scotland ( http://www.northcoast500.com/interactive-map.aspx ), along the route is the Douneray Nuclear Facility, which has been in various stages of decommissioning over the years ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dounreay ) so thought this might be the best time to get more involvedHow long does the battery last from a charge, and is there a charging soloution from a vehicle 12V outlet? How much data is generated, could I go 2 weeks easily enough without downloading anything. How many hours of data per GB of SD card spaceHas anybody used a plain black Peli case instead of the clear case, with the recent happenings in UK, I'd like to use the unit when on foot sometimes, but worry that somebody might jump to conclusions as to what I have on my packpack, so something more subtle would be better
And there was no problem although the airport security is probably the most suspicious. I only switch the device when passing through the checks so no one can think I am using a hidden camera or something similar. My colleague had it in Israel and also no problem.
I also keep the "accompanying document" in appropriate language with the bGeigie. There is nothing illegal with it unless you are allowed to walk in the area without any restrictions.
However I mostly put the bGeigie in one of the side mesh pockets on my backpack with detector facing our so it also covers the blinking LEDs and the display (although the intention is just to avoid needless shielding of the detector with the bag contents.
Regarding the memory card - definitely no need to worry - we have some bGeigies for a year (or maybe longer) and we still keep copy of all the measured files on the card (although moved to separate folder).
