Hi Robert-

Currently we don’t have a distributor in Germany, or in Europe so that is the only option to buy that kit. You can buy the parts individually as well but I think that would end up costing even more for shipping…

Hello, how long did you had to wait for the device after you placed the order? You paid 450$ + 110$ shipping + 120 Euros tax, is this right??

Not specifically  - We don’t actually “officially distribute” it anywhere. We designed the kit and published the parts list, Medcom offered to sell them so that’s how they are available from them, however anyone who wants to source the parts could build it and distribute it.

It’s an important distention that Safecast doesn’t make products to sell, we designed this device to help collect data but we’re a non-profit and not in the business of selling hardware so if this kit is available in Germany will depend entirely on if someone in Germany decides to build and sell it.

Does that make sense?

I just had a kit delivered to UK.
450$ + 110$ (delivery) + 150$ (import tax) = 660$!
It is a huge waste of resources.
We need to organise in U.E. to source the parts locally!

I paid in The Netherlands:
1x Safecast bGeigie Nano Kit - Clear for $450.00 each
Subtotal : $450.00 USD
Shipping : $47.65 USD
Total : $497.65 USD

And then just under €100 on import duties, so it cost me around €600.

An EU outlet would drive the price down a bit methinks........

We are buying our bGegies via Radiansa Consulting (Spain).

I was informed that you could probably reduce the shipping price by ordering more kits in one package but there is limit regarding Li-Ion batteries. I think you cannot have more than 5 pieces in one package. However it is not complicated to order without batteries - our technician successfully used Samsung EB-L1G6LLU batteries as replacement - they have almost same parameters, you just have to solve the connection.

I do not remember all the bGegie parts, but you could probably get some part locally:

- Arduino Fio - as I know, those from Kithub/Medcom are already flashed with firmware but I think you can order Fio from Italy or from China (free shipping :-) ). No idea what about the other boards...
- the GPS module
- the Pelican case for sure - there are many local dealers in Europe...

However you still would have to order the GM tube and iRover from USA...
