I noticed that accelerometer values are kept in the data log on the Onyx: what is the use case for those? The only thing I can see is that it can help tell the orientation of the device during measurement - if you assume it was static...

Same with the magnetometer, what's the plan there? :)

I'm still working on the viewer, the next git updates will include a version that works fine on Firefox + Chrome, stores the data log in the browser's local storage, and also exports the log in JSON format. I will then add more refined graph viewer options, the ability to import data from a JSON file, and to export only part of the data. What other export format would make sense there? CSV maybe?

The cool thing about local storage, is that the application stores all new log values upon download, and does not lose old values even if you clear the log.

Orientation, but it takes 2 sets of readings one at the start of the measurement,
and another at the end, so you can tell if the device was being moved around.
The intuition being that this might be a useful filtering metric. I believe there
is some orientation dependence anyway (pointing it toward the ground will give you
a different reading that pointing it toward the horizon for example).

There is/was a planned beta shield (I think there are some notes on Bunnie's blog post about this).

Yep, people seem to like CSV.

Awesome! Would certainly make picking out long term trends easier!
