Which branch of https://github.com/Safecast/bGeigieZen was used to create the current firmware? I'm using the default branch (bGeigieZen-SensorReporter-framework), but when I build and upload it locally it does not work properly, keeps dumping this error"

[Wire.cpp:499] requestFrom(): i2cWriteReadNonStop returned Error -1

which seems to be related the platformio platform setting, but I have been unable to get a a build to run on the zen as of yet.

Can you tell us what branch and versions were used in recent releases? There are no releases listed on the GitHub site.

Cyrus,

Yes, that is the current branch we use for newest code.
If you run the firmware from M5burner V3.2.4 there is no error?

Cyrus,

What is your software setup? We at the dev team are using VSCode and Platformio.
Must use Linux.

I was using the default build, but when I used the core 2 build it worked fine. I am unfamiliar with the build system, but still probably worth documenting.

Typically origin or master is the default branch, which added to my confusion.

Currently testing adding an alternate URL to publish API calls to using telegraf/influx/grafana locally. Will probably expand the data packet to the full log line for the alternate call.

Cyrus,

If you use VSCode you can select the setup for different M5Stack models and with Git Graph it is easy to see when and what things have been changed. I hope this helps you.

Thanks, got it.

I'm a Java guy, so C++ and Arduino ecosystems are pretty foreign to me. I did update local storage and the API connector to use an alternate url to send the JSON packet to an additional url. That url is a telegraf endpoint that maps the data and passes it into ingress, and then I can interpret the data via grafana.

GPS seems to be surprisingly off even though it's considered valid. All readings taken from a single location, partially obscured by my residence. That's about 2km variability in latitude. I get that It would likely be more accurate in the open, but I would assume that readings for location need to be accurate to be submitted.

Cyrus,

Great, you got things working with Grafana. I could use some help with Elastic search and Grafana. Please let me know if you can help out with getting Elasticsearch and Grafana up again.

I shared your observations with the Zen dev team. And I will keep you posted when we have replies.

Hugs and peace,
rob

Cyrus,

Can you share the SDcard jounal (log) file of the GPS issue event? That would help us troubleshooting the issue.

Regards
Rob
