I overhead this guy at a coffee shop once saying "If you are an artist
and nobody sees your work, then really, you are just making a really
cool diary."
which is better I suppose than making things you dont really care about. So for like the last few weeks I have been working on this really stupid work-out video for middle schoolers. Even though I am working for an awesome non-profit I find that I really dont care about the work that I do. Is the fact that it is "industry job" where I get to edit video really make it any different from other jobs. Afterall, I am just taking orders and using a computer. I could do that anywhere. Would I be happier if I just had a crappy job that didn't require as much personal investment, thus giving me more energy to devote to things I do care about? Like making my own movies and submitting them to festivals?
but in other news, minneapolis is pretty darn cool.
i dont know how i'll feel once it starts snowing though.
I have slacked so hard on submitting stuff to festivals and really it might be (one of the) biggest shames of my career as a filmmaker. Nobody has seen anything that I have done!
