assignment, part one:
go to a public place! And do, the following (with a little arrow, pointing
to right before "the" it asks "One of?" as if to say "One of? the following"
which makes me thing that maybe really you should be doing all these things)
Find Something blue
ask someone if they are missing something
rub your skin against a texture you are not used to
put something that is important to you in the trash
bring a camera with you
Part two:
Some Elements to include
Foreign Language (not english)
food preperation
places of commerce
filming people staffing the service industry
filming all discernable manifestations of post consumption wast, by
products, etc.
Filming drunk people.
I came up with neither of these assignments, if I were to dictate to you my
commands, I would add, but dont trouble yourself with paying attention:
No digital manipulation (color correction, blowing up etc).
Incorporate camera movement as a major aspect of the video.
Some kind of integrated motion (animation).
a) Under 5 mintues.
b) The theme is "conflict without resolution" which can be interpreted
however you'd like, abstractly, at a distance, even time-wise: the
conflict can be from the past, present, future. But feel free to make
the definition even more general.
c) The following words need to be used in som capacity:
under
saw
light
tower
fall
These words can be actual objects, they can be words spoken, they can
be part of other words such as "under" could be "underwear", or they
can be acted out as verbs, adjectives, etc.
Add the two digits of your birthday together.
They will result in a number between 1 and 9.
1 & 2: Sunday
3: Monday
4 & 5: Tuesday
6: Wednesday
7: Thursday
8: Friday
9: Saturday
Now go to an online newspaper/newspaper database and search for the
headlines for your designated day.
Now find the headline that corresponds with the number you got. (1-9)
This is the headline you will loosely base your movie on.
It may be any format as long as it can be transferred to TV.
It must be three minutes.
Search any paper. It must be from the correct day and it must be front
page news.
Some papers charge to search past editions.
You can use weelky newspapers if they are released on your assigned
day.
Example: Bob's birthday is on the 17th. 1+7=8. He decides to search
the Podunk Review. He would either wait for Friday to come around or
search the archives for a previous Friday and look for the 8th headline
he sees.
Time= less than 4 minutes
Constraints= mise en scene dominated by collor/repetition of subject
and object/ frantic editing.
