Hi everyone,
Please see email below.
It would be important for us as SAFA to be involved in the SAARC Gender Policy Advocacy Group. Did any of you attend the Islamabad meeting.
Lets explore how best we can do this.
Warmly,
Priti

Subject: Preparing a SAARC report card + SAARC Gender Policy Advocacy
Group
Dear Friends,
Am writing to inquire if the feminist groups would like to contribute to the SAARC report card that we are planning for this year. Please see mail sent earlier (below). We're brainstorming at the moment, so would welcome ideas and suggestions on this initiative so that we can collectively come up with a template for such an evaluation of the SAARC on various thematic axis (gender, environment, natural resources etc).
I am also writing to inquire if any of you participated in the First Meeting of the SAARC Gender Policy Advocacy Group (GPAG) held at Hotel Marriott, Islamabad on 26-27 July 2015 and if you're involved in this process or know anyone who is?
It would be useful if we can collectively find out more about this initiative of the SAARC as well as any other and engage with it as PSAARC.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, ideas, suggestions.
Warmly,
Rakhi

Dear Friends,
We have often discussed that we need to systematically monitor the working of the SAARC and prepare a report card especially regarding the various areas of work that SAARC is officially engaged in and its progress on the various commitments it has made over the years.
At the Kathmandu PSAARC it was encouraging to see how the various movements and groups have been consistently evaluating SAARC's functioning in their own areas of work and specialization and have many suggestions and recommendations to offer to strengthen SAARC's work.
For example, EquityBD and Focus on the Global South have evaluated the working of the SAARC seed bank and food security initiatives; WOREC Nepal and others have pointed out the weaknesses in the SAARC Convention on Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Women and Children etc etc etc.
We would like to request all friends to share their report cards, evaluations, briefing notes etc. on the functioning of various SAARC initiatives, if you have any, so that we can compile them and bring out a comprehensive report in preparation for the SAARC and PSAARC conventions later this year.
We also encourage friends if they haven't yet prepared such an evaluation of SAARC in their focus area of work, to do so and share it. The PSAARC-India Secretariat will also be happy to facilitate and help such initiatives, so do let us know.
We hope everyone will contribute to this effort so that we can build on this and strengthen the interaction between SAARC and PSAARC.
Looking forward to everyone's contributions.
Best,
Rakhi

Currently I am in my native town for wheat harvesting, would be back next weak and share something.
Overall it was a bureaucratic type of event, bit presentation from Shireen was perfect.
