thank you Jan ... I used the links you gave me above and now my system preference for printers does not find the epson at all ... I also restarted my machine and downloaded the epson 'connect printer setup' (shows as being created in 2016) ... still nothing.
well ... I tricked it to finding the epson ... it lists my oki laser printer automatically but not the epson. so when I added the oki ... I pressed add again , chose the oki and put in the name of the epson which then added it to my list of printers. but now it is not recognised - tried to send through a self-test page and it says 'in use' but it just rolls along trying to find the printer. it rolls along infinitely without finding the machine. the printer utility won't launch.

By the left of centre doesnt anyone test their product any more. My printer decided to screw itself again, now it wont connect again, now I have to repeat this again. It doesnt even seem able to find the damned network it is sat right next to again. I have power cycled, I have sworn, I have pressed buttons, I am about to go into the garage and get the 15lb fault corrector and I will make damned sure I know why it isnt working.
