[04] Spokesman - Denktash

Nicosia, Dec 5 (CNA) - The government considers that statements by Turkish
Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash that the UN-led proximity talks have come to
an end run contrary to a decision by the European Union (EU) to conclude
the text of its partnership agreement with Turkey.

Denktash told the press Monday, after a meeting with UN Secretary General's
Special Adviser for Cyprus Alvaro de Soto, that the year-long proximity
talks "have served their purpose and they have come to an end".
