We are honored to present an incredible evening with master of pigments and materials, George O’Hanlon, owner of the renouned paint supplier Natural Pigments.
Learn all about constructing a painting from the support to the ground and final layers, including discussing how the “fat-over-lean” rule in oil painting is inherently flawed. Practical procedures are described to build your oil paintings according to the studies on the conservation of paintings. The presentation will be followed by questions and answers. This presentation is designed for painters of all mediums, but has special application to oil painting.
Natural Pigments manufactures and distributes rare and hard-to-find materials for fine artists and decorators. They specialize in supplying artists’ materials that were used in historical painting since prehistoric times up to and including the nineteenth century.

We are honored to host Guest Instructor Elizabeth Zanzinger, former student of Juliette Aristides and the Grand Central Atelier.
In this six session class, students will come away with a deeper understanding of figure drawing and the principles that help guarantee success. Starting with a solid fail-proof approach, students will then couple their direct observation from life with their study of anatomy and structure. We will have fun exploring the medium of white chalk and Nitram vine charcoal and learn how to use it to our advantage with the figure.

Everyone can tell when a figure drawing is out of proportion: Head too big, legs too short, arms too long. Even a non-artist will spot the errors immediately. Distort your shapes beyond the range of reasonable proportion and your figure drawing starts to look more alien than human! So, we can tell what wrong: Now, how how to fix it?

In This class students may choose to draw or paint. If you choose to draw: Felicia teaches a tonal style of drawing that lend’s itself to learning representational painting. Painting: in direct painting, also known as alla prima, a work is completed in a single session while the paint is still wet. Direct Painting is a stimulating method which teaches you to be present in every brush stroke, focusing on only the essentials, ultimately teaching you great dexterity and control.
