One to Eight Weeks of Full Time Study

Daily practice is the best way for an artist to significantly improve their skills, but many serious students of Realism are unable to attend a full-time program year-round. That’s why we offer the opportunity to study at the atelier for short-term, full time Intensives.

Figure Drawing Intensives 2015
Figure Drawing is taught with the 19th century classical academic method. A complete, accessible introduction for all levels.

Workshop Instructor Carl DobskyJune 29 - July 17: Three Week Long Pose
FULL DAYS ONLY
10am - 5pm Weekdays
An opportunity to work from a live model in an extended long pose.
Carl Dobsky is offering a 5-day workshop one week before this intensive.
Intensive Instructors Sadie Valeri, James Edmonds, and their Teaching Assistants will be working on figure paintings, so students can observe the process from start to finish.

Cast Drawing: Year Round, Ongoing

Student chooses dates to study, from 2-6 weeks
Full Time Student Franklin Lei“Casts” are plaster reproductions of historic sculptures, and studying them was the standard for art education in the 19th century French Academic tradition.
Cast drawing can be studied in preparation for our Figure Classes and Full Time Classical Figure Program, or simply for the joy of learning to create beautiful realistic drawings.

Still Life Painting: Year-Round Ongoing

Sadie ValeriSadie teaches the painting technique she uses for her own still life works: The layered, Indirect method of oil painting developed by the Dutch Masters of 17th century still life. This method of applying many thin layers of oil paint on a smooth wood panel gives the artist incredible control for achieving effects of stunning realism.

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total fee is due to reserve your place on your chosen dates. Balance is due 1 month before your start date.
DISCOUNT for Part Time Enrolled Students
Currently enrolled Part-Time students who have already reserved a Cast and Still Life station throughout the period of an Intensive receive a discount for their FOLLOWING month of enrollment. The discount is equal to the number of pro-rated Reserved days that overlapped with the Intensive.
