1. PM Modi shared his thoughts on  his monthly radio program ‘ *MANN KI BAAT* ’ 91st edition yesterday : *HIGHLIGHTS* 

(a) PM  expressed happiness that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav has taken the form of a mass movement as India will complete 75 years of independence on August 15 this year.. 

(b) He  talked about India's freedom struggle. He cited an example of events took place in Meghalaya and Karnataka earlier this month like  Amrita Bharathi Kannadarthi.

(c) He said that another endeavor that has been taken in July this year is Azadi Ki Railgadi Aur Railway Station. The objective of this effort is to make people know the role of Indian Railways in the freedom struggle.

(d) He said that from August 03 to 13, ​​'Har Ghar Tiranga- Har Ghar Tiranga' is also being organized. He urged the people to change their social media profile pictures to tricolor from August 2 to 15 this year.

(e) PM Modi asserted AYUSH has played a crucial role in the fight against Covid-19 global pandemic, adding that there is growing interest in Ayurveda and Indian medicine around the world.

3. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief S Somanath said that India can get its own Elon Musk if certain limitations and challenges of the organisation are overcome.

The woman petitioner had sought a direction to the Sub-Registrar, Kanniyakumari to solemnise her marriage with the man through video conference. The court directed that the wedding be solemnised in presence of three witnesses

1. NIA conducts searches at multiple locations into activities of ISIS module case.

It carried out searches at 13 premises of suspects in  Bhopal and Raisen districts in Madhya Pradesh; Bharuch, Surat, Navsari and Ahmedabad districts in Gujarat, Arariya district in Bihar, Bhatkal and Tumkur City districts in Karnataka, Kolhapur and Nanded districts in Maharashtra and Deoband district in Uttar Pradesh.

2.  *UTTAR PRADESH* :A special task force of UP police has arrested 18 people today in connection with a paper leak racket of Lekhpal examination.

3. *MADHYA PRADESH* :  The main accused in communal violence during a Ram Navami procession in Madhya Pradesh, Sameerullah Khan (30), carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, was arrested from the Khaltaka area of the Khargone district  on Sunday.

Stone pelting had occurred during a Ram Navami procession in Khargone on April 10, leading to clashes between two communities and arson.

5. *MAHARASHTRA* : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is carrying out search at the residence of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut in Patra Chawal land scam case.

6. *HARYANA*:  Six people have been arrested for allegedly making extortion calls to four Haryana MLAs. The MLAs had received death threats and extortion calls from multiple phone numbers between June 24 to 28.

7. *WEST BENGAL* Sacked  minister Partha Chatterjee, who is at the centre of a multicrore school job scam, claimed that the cash during raids by the Enforcement Directorate did not belong to him. He also said the “conspirators" will be unmasked in due time.

The ED made fresh seizures of Rs 8 crore from the bank accounts of companies linked to Chatterjee’s close associate Arpita Mukherjee.

1. Over 53 lakh Income Tax Returns (ITRs) were filed till 8 pm yesterday as there was no indication about the extension of the July 31 deadline from the government. The Income Tax Department tweeted at 8.45 pm that 4,95,505 ITRs were filed in the past hour. This is the first time in three years that the deadline hasn't been extended.

2. The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) backed by the government of India will facilitate loans to small and medium businesses and individuals to buy agri-drones. The drones will be the Kisan Drones built by startup Garuda Aerospace. A single loan can be up to ₹10 lakh with 5% interest depending on the drones and accessories purchased.

1. The fourth Edition of India Oman Joint Military Exercise AL NAJAH-IV between contingents of Indian Army and the Royal Army of Oman is scheduled to take place at the Foreign Training Node of Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan starting today.

The Royal Army of Oman contingent comprising 60 personnel from the Sultan of Oman Parachute Regiment have arrived at the exercise location.

2. 3rd Edition of Vietnam-India Bilateral Army Exercise “Ex VINBAX 2022” to begin on 01 Aug at Chandimandir. It will continue till 20th August.

3. An Indian Army on Sunday paid homage to and laid to rest its canine soldier Axel, who made the supreme sacrifice during an anti-terror operation but not before pinpointing the location of a holed-up terrorist and thereby protecting a mosque in the vicinity.

The terrorist, who was later identified as Kupwara-resident Akhtar Hussain Bhatt, was killed by security forces after an eight-hour-long gunfight in the Wanigam Bala area of Kreeri in Baramulla district on Saturday.

An Ugandan national who was found living illegally in Bengaluru for over 16 years was deported on July 27. 

Bosco Kawesi, who claimed to be a prominent African in Bengaluru, was also found in possession of 26 passports of African nationals, out of which 24 had expired visas, police said. Police are now probing Kawesi's involvement in human trafficking.

Light that passes through the retina is reflected off the tapetum, giving the retinal cells a second chance to sense it. This makes some animals’ eyes shine in the glare of car headlights. The color you see is the pigment on the inner layer of the retina.

At the heart of all vision is the retina, which contains two types of light-sensing cells: rods and cones. Cones account for color vision but require bright, focused light, whereas rods can sense very dim, scattered light, but don’t produce a color image. 

One should not get the impression that an animal’s night vision is perfect – even nocturnal animals aren’t active in the darkest hours of a moonless night.

  *Why Lord Shiva Is Worshipped In Sawan Month* 

 Sawan month is considered to be quite auspicious. It is also considered to be the favourite month of Lord Shiva. Devotees of Lord Shiva, Many stories associated with it. One such story is of Samundra Manthan (the churning of the ocean). When Gods and demons were churning the ocean to gain the divine Amrit (nectar), the first thing that came out was Halahal, a deadly poison.  Moreover, if this Halahal wasn't consumed then it could destroy the whole universe. So everyone pleaded Lord Shiva to suggest something. , Lord Shiva kept that poison in his throat only. He didn't let it to reach his stomach as his stomach represents the Universe. This turned his neck blue and since then Lord Shiva is known as 'Neelkanth'. Also says that's the way Sky is in Blue colour.

Moreover, after this, the next month that came was Sawan and during this month, Earth receives plenty of rainfall which ensures that the temperature is cool and pleasant. Thus people started worshipping Lord Shiva during this month for not only saving the universe from Poison (Halahal) but also to offer Him things that would provide Him the necessary cold and comfort.

Reason behind avoiding Non Veg in Shrawan month.  Indian religion science says that non-veg should not be eaten in the Hindi month of Saawan (rainy season). According to Indian Religion science and vedic Knowledge, who eats non-veg in Shravan, his/ her health is severely affected. During the monsoons, due to the lack of sunlight, our digestive systems are weaker and therefore, it is better to refrain from eating non-vegetarian food. The snacks that people eat during the Sawan fast are light and easy to digest. Also during the rains, there are many water-borne diseases. And the animal meat has chances of being infected. So it is advisable to avoid it during the monsoons🙏🏻.
