Ustad Sarahang singing his famous Ghazal Mina Beyawaraid "Bring me Wine" at his concert in Kabul Afghanistan

What a pitty. So called great music …..  is used to ask for wine. So called great music is used by lost-ing mouth to ask just a wine and some may ask for women too tomorrow.

Though I like the music but I felt very bad because of the above reason

Our sastriya sangeetham used for pleasing the god and guru.

In fact islam says music is Haram. All our carnatic music songs are only about god and guru. We only praise god and guru and nothing else. what great we are.

Ghazals are not Indian music as such. They are fusion (at the most) between Islamic music and the North Indian (Hindustani) music.

Interestingly, some Hindustani compositions (in fact a large percentage of them) are also not bhakti sangeetam. Many Hindustani singers do naada-upaasana but keep it devoid of bhakti; like just expanding the raaga over cassettes and CDs without even a word, say, "Hari."

More interestingly I saw & heard (over TV) Sri M Balamuralikrishna say, "there is no hard and fast rule that SaastrIya sangeetam has to be bhakti based only.. it is not written in any scriptures. It just happens to be that nearly 100% of Carnatic music is bhakti-sangeetam." But he also said and practices this: "while expanding a raaga, instead of just saying 'aa.. aa...' or 'tadarinaa...', say 'haree....eee...'."

followed this well sung...it has a perfect ending..cou de grace..no wonder he is called ustad...
one need not be advanced vidvawn do relish music...if it is not good any creature will turn a deaf ear...raaga has the power to bind mind...hence the name raaga..

joh bhi karo sur aur taal mein karo...was instruction of classical guru of daler mehndi...

just curious if wine is bad...why are devatas known for sura paanam...and rakshaas called 'asuras'...and all tee totalers are saints at heart...?

khuda dil dekhtahai...kaarname nahin..
iraade  nek dekhtahai...anjaam nahi...

Addiction to even sweets is bad for health..the whole of Gujarat runs on pace makers, diabetes is ubiquitous in india now...junk food rampant and fashionable in urban in india rendering children obese..
while hindustani  underscores manodharmam, and lyrics is of not importance...the tradition of vaak geya karas, while original musical compositions of tansen and baijubavra do exist to date...

most gazal singers are classicallly trained...carve out a market (for living) among music lovers who are incidentally non-tee totalers...

gazal (poetry / melancholy) music being depressant and gels well with alcohol which is chemical counter part...
music lovers should look at only the musical or nada componnet of the gazal not the ....
nevertheless there is a certain nazaakat (lalityam) about gazals...they are about sensitivity to suffering(viraha, gambhira, rasas)...not always about drink and getting drunk...perceptions of the world through depressed lensess..

i hear some carnatic and hindustani exponents not to name here...perform under influence ...to slip into mood easily...it is their personal choice...like shirdi saibaba cooking and eating meat...as long as they dont become besuri...even that behaviour can be tolerated...rasikas should be concerned only with output....

likewise in the west ....hard rock stars get high on stimulants like dope...etc..
mediatation and viveka is a natural technique to get one there...

nevertheless the habitual dependence on the atificial destressing agents to get  high or low is unnecessary and unwarented but
quality time with one self  and content are key ingredients destressing...and relaxing.

checkout this immaculate rendition of mirzagalib gazhal by Md. rafi..good enough to send listeners to trans...

esp. that gamakam when he says...kaha kiseene ke ghaalib
